Pure Intention : Live a Life of Grace and Gratitude

I recently learned that a lovely friend from years ago passed away suddenly.

As I sat in sadness and disbelief, the word that surfaced to mind was grace.

She was  authentic, kind, loving, funny, brilliant and talented. Simply put, she was a beautiful being inside and out.

The last time I saw her, she was in town for business. I was finishing up a yoga class and heard laughter coming from the front entrance of the studio. Although it had been years since I’d seen her, I recognized her voice instantly. We embraced as old friends do and promised to get together again someday soon.

In my early days as a mom, I was fortunate enough to meet a group of amazing women. We were all in the same boat, trying to stay afloat. Once a week, we would gather together at my friends place for coffee, chicken wings and loads of laughter. The kids would run wild and the moms would sit. Some of us would breastfeed; some would play the piano and we would all share stories about our husbands—none of whom could do more than one thing at a time, even if their life depended on it. At the centre of it all and the light in the room was my dear friend.

To know her was to love her.

I am truly grateful that our paths crossed. I know that her presence brightened lives and inspired many.

My friend led a graceful life and she will be greatly missed.
