Simple and Effortless

Let’s start with food…..one of my greatest passions 🙂
Over the years I have made countless attempts to detox my body. I used to laugh with my sister as I shared my endeavours to transform into a new being. The 21 day challenge of eating well and no alcohol, starting January 1 or, integrating “Detox Monday’s” into a weekly ritual after a weekend of overindulging. Also worth mentioning, was the time that I brought my detox cookbooks on my trip to Peru in November 2017. What better place for transformation to happen? My husband was wondering why my back pack was so darn heavy. When he saw what was inside, he shook his head in dismay. Karine …..vraiment ?
Looking back to 2017, I realize that at that point in my life I was starting to feel desperate, in search of a quick fix. I wanted to miraculously transform into this being, I so longed to be. I had three daughters who needed my TLC as they navigated their way into young adulthood; an aging father who was not always the easiest person to deal with and also required TLC; an amazing but challenging career in healthcare; we had moved 4 times in 5 years and built a new home; oh and I can’t forget about my Sergio who was still struggling with the concept of multi-tasking. I was tired, stressed and basically running on empty. Oh and did I mention I wanted to lose 10 pounds? If I could just do that, then everything else would be fine!
After countless attempts to cleanse, I have finally come to the realization that “detoxing” is not something that we should do when we have time or after we’ve overindulged in some of the finer things in life.
“Our bodies detox best with real food eaten abundantly every day. Forget the stop-start fasting, cleanses, and deprivation.” Sarah Wilson, New York Times best selling author of I Quit Sugar
Ease into a detoxed version of yourself, simply and effortlessly.
Commit to living well consciously, every single day.
Remember….this doesn’t mean that you can no longer enjoy the good things ie coffee and Chardonnay.

Here are the three cookbooks I brought to Peru and did not even look at BTW …
Everyday Detox by Megan Gilmore
Clean Slate “Reset Your Health, Detox Your Body and Feel Your Best” from the editors of Martha Stewart
